Danger

He’s afraid yet not afraid
of the force he knows is coming.
His butt and liberty are the issues here-
He protects it at all costs with
an impenetrable wall of
competence that wraps around him.
No biting bullets, no clamoring excuses
of fear meant only for other ears.
But he does know, and there is no reason to fear
Yet still he perceives danger,
The Chief, this way, comes.

A native of North Carolina, Garland Davis has lived in Hawaii since 1987. He always had a penchant for writing but did not seriously pursue it until recently. He is a graduate of Hawaii Pacific University, where he majored in Business Management. Garland is a thirty-year Navy retiree and service-connected Disabled Veteran.
