LTJG Kirk Douglas

WWII Navy Veteran and actor

LTJG KIRK DOUGLAS

DEAD AT 103

He joined the United States Navy in 1941, shortly after the United States entered World War II, where he served as a gunnery and communications officer in anti-submarine warfare aboard USS PC-1137. He was medically discharged in 1944 for war injuries sustained from the accidental dropping of a depth charge.

R.I.P. shipmate, I wish for you fair winds and following seas, deep green water under your bow, your main rifles trained in the posture of peace and a gentle breeze at your stern.

No one could say a line through gritted teeth like he could. He was a class actor. Always believable. Thank you for your service to God & country & thank you for the roles you portrayed that help us fans get away from everyday life while we watched you on the “big screen” larger than life. Prayers for your family & close friends.
