Too Long In The Wind

by Garland Davis

If they could only see me now

I’m the one who was said to roam

The one who’d rather be alone

If they could only see me now

If I could hold one now

Just for a moment, if I could really make her mine

Just for a minute, turn back the hands of time

If I could only hold her now

I’ve been too long at sea

Too long in the wind and rain

Taking comfort where I can

Looking back and longing for

The freedom of her chains

And lying in her loving arms again

If she could see me here now

Making way through my lonely nights

Dreaming of her arms that held me tight

If only there was a ship to sail back

I’ve been long in the wind

Taking what comfort I can

Longing for the time back in the day

And the freedom of her chains

And lying in her loving arms again

I’ve been too long in the wind

Too long in the rain

I can almost feel her loving arms again
